What information about me is collected and stored?

Information Provided by You

We collect and store information that you provide to us through our interactions with you, including through our websites, in our stores, through our customer service representatives, at events, through mobile applications, through marketing efforts, including contests, sweepstakes and events, and through third parties. We may also collect your shipping information in the event that you purchase or win rewards through our site in order to receive your rewards or purchased items. If your reward is being shipped by the Artist and not directly by Creative Canvas, we will provide your shipping address to the Artist so that the shipment can be fulfilled. You may elect not to provide certain information, which could result in you not being able to take advantage of certain capabilities of this website, our mobile applications or other services we offer. For example, you must provide certain personal information in order to place a payment through a third party processor. We may request, collect and store some or all of the following types of personal information: your name, billing address, shipping address, e-mail address, telephone number, financial and payment information, including your credit card number and expiration date, gender, personal interests, date of birth, and any information about a third party you provide accessing the website. If you access our website or mobile applications with your log-in credentials from a social networking site (e.g. Facebook, Pinterest, or Twitter) or if you otherwise agree to associate your account with us with a social networking site, we may receive personal information about you from such social networking site, in accordance with the terms of use and privacy policy of such social networking site. We may add this to the information we have already collected from you via other interactions.

Automatically Collected Information

We collect and store certain other non-personally identifiable information automatically whenever you interact with us. For example, we may collect your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser information and reference site domain name when you visit this website. We may analyze this data for preferences, trends, and site usage statistics. We may also collect information by using cookies, web beacons, and related technologies in order to analyze and understand how the website is used and to improve your visits to the website. For example, we may use cookies and related technologies to: (i) customize account pages for you, (ii) track user visits and account features, (iii) determine what features and pages are most frequently requested or visited, and (iv) save your password so you do not have to provide it each time you visit the website. "Cookies" are small text files that a website sends to a user's hard drive through the browser for data storage. Most browsers accept cookies automatically but allow you to disable them. By disabling or otherwise rejecting cookies, you may not be able to take full advantage of all offerings on this website. We recommend that you leave cookies "turned on" so that we can offer you a better overall experience on this website. We use third-party companies to provide Internet data hosting and to help us measure and determine how visitors use our website and to evaluate the effectiveness of our website and promotions so that we can improve and optimize our website and the products and services we offer. We use third-party companies to serve advertisements (banners or links) on our behalf throughout the Internet. These companies use tracking technologies (including cookies and pixel tags) to collect non-identifiable information about your visits to our website and your interactions with our products and services. This information helps third parties deliver tailored advertisements to you and others on our behalf and on behalf of other advertisers throughout the Internet based on your interests and browsing of our website (remarketing). We use third-party audience data (such as age, gender, and interests) to better understand and advertise to audiences that visit our website. We do not use or associate personally identifiable information with remarketing lists, cookies, data feeds, or other anonymous identifiers. Our websites currently do not have a mechanism to recognize “Do Not Track” signals, but several of the third-party companies who utilize these cookies or beacons enable you to opt out of this advertising. If you wish to opt out of receiving this third-party interest-based advertising, you may obtain more information HERE. Please note this does not opt you out of receiving marketing communications from us. Some of our e-mail communications to you may include a "click-through URL" linked to a particular page on the website. By clicking on one of these URLs, you will automatically enter our website and we may collect information related to the "click- through." You may avoid having this information collected by not clicking on URL links in our e-mail communications. We also use a variety of retail analytics tools in our stores for operational and marketing purposes, such as measuring and analyzing traffic patterns. These tools collect data from sensors, including video cameras, smartphone detectors, Wi-Fi networks, or other devices, to evaluate and improve your in-store experience.

Information from Other Sources

We may collect information about you from third-party sources and information that is publicly available. For example, information you submit in a public forum (e.g., a blog, chat room, or social network site) can be read, collected, or used by us and others, and could be used to personalize your experience. You are responsible for the information you choose to submit in these instances. Another example, is that we may receive demographic information about you from a third party to make our service and marketing efforts more efficient and personalized for you.

How Do I Indicate Whether Or Not I Want To Receive Promotional Communications, Email Notifications, or Communications from Projects?

You will be able to change your email preferences for receiving email communications by clicking on a "manage email notifications" hyperlink contained in the aforementioned e-mails we send you. Please note that removal of personal information from our database or "opting- out" will not stop marketing or advertising content that is generated for distribution or is otherwise queued for transmission to you prior to the time when we can implement your request.  If you establish an account, you may receive certain types of communications even if you have not opted-in to receive them because these types of communications may be necessary in order to maintain an account on the website.

How is your information used?

We use the personal information we collect to communicate with you, analyze and develop our business, and to improve our products, services, and interactions with customers. We, or third-party service providers we engage, may use the information to process and ship orders, provide products and services that you have ordered or requested, send order and shipping confirmations, provide customer service, respond to your comments, questions or complaints, personalize your interactions with us, identify your preferences and shopping habits, analyze trends and statistics, create, administer and fulfill our contests and other promotions, evaluate and improve the website and our products and services, and prepare and send you information regarding our products, services or special events. We also use your information for business purposes such as security, legal compliance, payment processing, analytics, operations, fraud detection, reporting, and making back-ups. You always have the choice not to receive marketing communications. For instructions on opting out of those communications, please review below the section entitled “How Do I Indicate Whether or Not I Want to Receive Promotional Communications, Email Notifications, or Communications from Projects?” Our blog is managed by a third-party application that may require you to register to post a comment. Creative Concierge

Creative Canvas: How To

Film Los Angeles, CA

This project is a 'How To' reference for Artists. Reference this project profile for tips and tricks as you set up your very own project profile.

Creative Canvas How To

A project profile on Creative Canvas is the first impression a fan, investor, or producer will have of your project. That's why you'll want to make your project profile look as clean as possible, and provide only the most relevant information, media, and updates. This project profile is a 'How To' that is meant to aid you when setting up your own profile. Follow along for tips and tricks, and never hesitate to ask your Creative Concierge for help as you format your own profile. We're happy to answer your questions so that you may get the most out of Creative Canvas.

Approval Process

Creative Canvas doesn't accept every project - we vet the projects that are submitted to us and ensure that they meet certain quality standards. Before your project is allowed to display publicly on the site, we carefully examine your project profile, budget, timeline, and possibly an example of creative work that is relevant to the project.

Once you've started a project profile, flesh it out with the most relevant details that help others to understand your project and what you hope to accomplish. A Creative Concierge will contact you within 24 hours (Monday - Friday). Your Creative Concierge will be your main point of contact with Creative Canvas.

After reviewing your project profile, your Creative Concierge may ask you for additional production materials, such as your budget and production timeline. He or she may also ask for an example of creative material that serves as proof of work, such as a screenplay/teleplay or script for the stage, a treatment, written music, pitch documents or pitch bible, etc. We understand that this material may be sensitive intellectual property, and we recommend that you make an effort to protect your work if possible. You may register your works with certain agencies, and even encrypt your examples of creative materials before submitting them to Creative Canvas.

Your project profile is not easily discoverable when it is in the middle of the approval process. If you wish to share your project profile with friends or colleagues while it is pending approval, you can do so by providing them with the URL address of your project profile.

Project Videos

Your project profile has one 'Main Project Video,' which resides within the hero area of the project profile. While you don't have to include a Main Project Video, we recommend doing so as a project with a Main Project Video is far more likely to succeed than a project without one.

Your Main Project Video can be just about anything: a simple video of you and your team describing the project that is shot using a mobile phone, a quick animation, an example of your music or podcast work, a teaser trailer, or a scene from your project... the possibilities are endless, so get creative! To include a Main Project Video, upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo first, then navigate to your project settings and paste in the link to your video in the Video Link field (url or embed link). Be sure to check mark either the Vimeo or YouTube box under the Video Link field, else your project video will not load properly.

Sometimes you'll want to include more videos, in which case your project profile's About page is the perfect place to do so. Open your project's settings, navigate to the About Project Section, and click the 'video' button within the text editor to paste in the link of your video. The text editor will only accept videos from Youtube and Vimeo at this time. This results in what you see below:

Main Project Photos

Your project profile has two main project photos: the Cover Photo and the Poster / Album Art Photo.

Cover Photo

Your project profile's Cover Photo is the photo which resides within the hero area of the project profile. It is the main photo of your project and it is used throughout the site, so do your best to craft an image that markets your project best and captures the interest of others. To upload your Cover Photo, navigate to the top of your project's settings. At this time, the site automatically crops your image into a square image. You may crop the image yourself before uploading, or ask your Creative Concierge for assistance in cropping your image before uploading.

Poster / Album Art Photo

Your project profile's Poster or Album Art photo is the photo that is meant to represent your project professionally. The recommended dimensions of a poster is 2400x3600, and the recommended dimension for album art is 800x800. While you may not have a poster or album art image in the very beginning, we recommend that you still create a temporary one, as projects with a poster or album art look more professional. You can quickly (and inexpensively) design a poster or album art cover using a site like Canva.

Uploading Images

All photos that you upload to the site via the text editors are saved and displayed on the Album page of your project profile.

In order for these images to display correctly within Creative Canvas, you must either upload them through the text editor's photo tool (which can be opened by pressing the photo button within the text editor) or by dragging and dropping your photo into the text editor. Your photos will then display at the correct dimensions on the site.

Customizing Photo Galleries

Creative Canvas has many options when it comes to photo placement within a text editor. The three different options are 'Auto Gallery', 'Custom Gallery', and 'Single-Image.' We are working on plugins for these features, but for the time being, you can do the following to create the photo template that you desire (or request help from a Creative Concierge).

Auto Photo Gallery

If you simply upload photos into a text editor on Creative Canvas, then your images will end up in an automized gallery at the very bottom of your project profile, no matter where you placed the image into the text editor. If you wish to override this default behavior and place single images and custom photo galleries wherever you'd like on the project profile, then see the custom photo galleries and single images directions below.

Custom Photo Gallery

Our text editor allows you to override the 'auto photo gallery' and create your very own photo gallery wherever you'd like on your page. To do so, go to your project's settings and navigate to the About Project Section, and drag and drop your photos into the text editor where you would like them to go. Then enter HTML mode within the text editor and place your photos in-between div tags with a class of "custom-gallery". Second, give each photo a class of "ignore". Notice: Your image tags must be surrounded by paragraph tags.

<div class="custom-gallery">
    <p><img class="ignore" src="..."></p>

Using the code above results in a gallery like this one:

Single Images

If you don't want a photo gallery, you can inject a single images onto your page instead. To inject only one photo, you may drag and drop the photo wherever you desire in the text editor, enter HTML mode within the text editor, and include the "single-image" class to the photo's image tag:

    <p><img class="single-image" src="..."></p>

Notice: Your image tags must be surrounded by paragraph tags, and nothing other than paragraph tags! The following is a result of using the code above:

Third Party Additions

Creative Canvas is tirelessly adding features that allow artists to embed many more third party items onto their project profiles. A good example of this includes the 'SoundCloud' Music Player Embed. An example of this player is below. Check back frequently as we add more third party embed options!
